C. Fisheries Department
Personal Emoluments
Tho staff has boon increased by one Lady
driver. The Lady
Secretary and reduced by one motor Secretary was appointed during the present year, provision for her salary having been made by Special Warrant. One clerk has been replaced by a Book-keeper and an Administrative Officer who was formerly paid under the sub-hoad "ilitary Officers on Loan" has, on demobilisation, boon included in the departmental establishment. The not increase is $16,358.
Other Charges
Travelling
Provision has been made departmentally for Uniforms, the Upkoop of Motor Vehicles, Newspapers and Periodicals, Office Equipment and Furnituro. Exponses have been reduced by $13,200 as compared with the combined provision for last year. There has been
a reduction of $3,500 under the sub-head "Printing of Statistical Forms" Advertising and Incidental Expenses have been cut by $500 and $200 respectively. reduction is $10,200.
The net
Recurrent expenditure under the whole Head shows
a total incrcase of $6,158.
D. Fisheries Research Station
The lines on which this Department is to be developed have still to be finally decided and the provision included in the Estimates is in the nature of a token vote as was the case last year.
E. Forestry Department
Personal Emoluments
The staff has been reduced by one temporary Chinese Assistant and increased by a Supervisor and an Assistant Supervisor both of whom were inadvertently omitted from the 1946/47 Estimates when the old Botanical and Forestry Department was sub-divided. additional motor driver and a Storeman have been provided for. The net increase under Personal Emoluments is $8,434.
Other Charges
One
Reductions of $26,375 under Forestry, $13,000 under Brushwood Clearing and $5,000 under Extraction of Timber are partly offset by an increase of $9,500 for Travelling Expenses and the provision of $16,000 for the Upkeep of Motor Vehicles. $22,375.
